Description

Studio 321 at Davenport Public Library is a place in which people with shared interests, especially in computing or technology, can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment and knowledge. The makerspace is designed to encourage community members to innovate, explore their creativity and ingenuity, and to collaborate with and inspire others. Studio 321 supports entrepreneurs and the small business community in Davenport.

The makerspace features a 3D printer, Cricut Explore Air, HPN High Pressure Heat Press, Cricut Mug Press, Button Maker, HP DesignJet Studio Printer, ION EZ Vinyl/Taper Converter, Video2Digital Converter, Cricut Easy Press 2, Kodak Carousel 4600 Projector, Radio Shack Portable Cassette Recorder, Jensen Turntable, and Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machines. This equipment complements the Library’s TechKnow collection featuring a robust Library of Things, including STEM and maker equipment.

Outcomes

Studio 321 opened in October 2022 and provides access to maker technologies for the Davenport community, including adults, school groups, homeschool groups, and community organizations, as well as entrepreneurs and the business community. The hands-on, interactive learning experiences available in the makerspace enhance STEM skills and provide opportunities for many in the community, especially underserved youth, to access technological equipment in a safe, educational, environment.
