Strategic Plan

The Urban Libraries Council identified several key strategic priorities to strengthen and advance the essential role of public libraries. These priorities make up a strategic plan with an implementation period of 2024 to 2027.

Strengthening and Advancing the Essential Role of Public Libraries

In 2023, ULC engaged in a strategic planning process that placed the urban library member at its center. Through feedback collected from members, input from a committee of key stakeholders and assistance from a consulting firm, ULC introduced its new strategic plan in January 2024.

Over the next three years, ULC will implement a strategic plan designed to strengthen and advance the essential role of public libraries. The key strategic areas of this work include: supporting the urban library leader, centering the transformative role of public libraries and driving greater advocacy for urban libraries.
