Fine Free Map

Across North America, many library systems are going "fine free," ceasing or limiting their use of overdue materials fines to reduce access barriers. ULC has created the below interactive map to help you understand and learn from libraries that have gone fine free.

Using the Map

By clicking on the location markers, you can see which library systems have taken steps to get rid of overdue fees, noted by the type of elimination and their reasoning for taking this step. Additionally, there is a link in each pop-up window to learn more about that library’s case. Note that this map is not comprehensive, and is updated on an ongoing basis.

To add your library to our Fine Free Map, please use this application form.

Please contact ULC's Communications Manager Elise Calanni with any questions.
