Kicking Off the Summer with Purpose
As we move through the height of summer, I know this is one of the most dynamic and demanding times of year for your systems and teams. Your libraries are alive with energy—welcoming families, sparking curiosity, and helping learners of all ages stay connected and inspired.
Even in the busiest moments, I hope you've found time to pause and take pride in the impact you're making. From what I’ve seen and heard, ULC libraries have launched this summer season with creativity and strength—whether through packed story times, engaging STEM activities, or meaningful teen-led programs.
Earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to spend time with several of you at the Florida Library Association Conference. The exchange of ideas and passion for the field reminded me just how powerful it is when we come together in person. That same energy carried into our largest CEO Roundtable in Toronto. From thoughtful discussions to moments of connection over dinner and exploration, the event gave us space to reflect, think big, and return with renewed momentum.
We also have several other major efforts underway at ULC:
- The ULC Fellows Program is launching this month, welcoming 14 rising leaders ready to help shape the future of our field.
- The ULC Academy's first-ever Branch Managers course begins this July. There are still a few seats open—please encourage your staff to register if they haven’t already.
- Federal advocacy remains core to our mission. ULC continues to meet with Congressional offices on both sides of the aisle—alongside ARSL—to protect IMLS funding and elevate your stories at the national level.
Thank you for the passion, vision, and strength you bring to your communities—especially in this full and vibrant season. ULC is honored to support your leadership and champion the impact of your work.
