Spectrum News Columbus — "Libraries are working to turn the page on a new chapter, one that brings young people back through the doors in a digital age. From career workshops to work study programs, they’re finding creative ways to reengage teens who may have drifted away.
“Having young people excited and prepared for their future,” said Sarah Wright, the Young Minds Program Leader at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Wright said they have a strategy to cover every age group and stage of development and one of their main focuses is high school graduation.
“That makes a big difference in eventually finding a career, you’re less likely to end up in poverty, and it provides this sense of belonging and a positive mental health outlook for a lot of these young people,” Wright said.
"Their effort is part of a national campaign designed to reach "opportunity youth." That’s young people who may be jobless or out of school, facing socioeconomic barriers."
