My Place To … The Public Library is Your Place

Anythink, Colo.

Advocacy & Awareness | 2017

Innovation Synopsis

"My Place To" is an awareness campaign designed to help the community understand that Anythink is their place where small discoveries can lead to life-changing experiences. The campaign uses a fill-in-the-blank approach that allows people to imagine how the library can be a part of their lives.

Challenge/Opportunity

Adams County has a massive influx of new residents. The "My Place To" campaign provides an opportunity to introduce Anythink as their public library while also displaying the many ways one can engage and take ownership of their experience there. The challenge is to shift outdated perceptions and help people understand how the library can enhance their quality of life, telling this story in a clear, succinct way that they can relate to and understand.

Key Elements of Innovation

Externally, the "My Place To" campaign is featured in cable and local broadcast commercials, public transit signage, a billboard, YouTube and social media. In branch, customers interact with the campaign through digital signage, self-check mats, table tents, screensavers and promotional cards that use the whimsy, fun and irreverence of the Anythink voice to explain the different levels of engagement offered at the library through the lens of specific interests like gardening, technology and music.

Achieved Outcomes

Through the "My Place To" campaign, new and existing residents will understand how Anythink is a place for them and their families, providing a full spectrum of experiences to enhance their quality of life and that of their neighbors’. Existing users will understand the breadth of experiences the library has to offer. Both audiences will have a stronger relationship with the brand and a better understanding of the hands-on learning experiences that await them.
