LGBTQ+ Joint Partnership with Mayor’s Office

Enoch Pratt Free Library, Md.

Anti-Racism, Digital Equity and Inclusion | 2020

Innovation Synopsis

In collaboration with Baltimore’s Office of the Mayor, through its director of LGBTQ affairs and members of the LGBTQ+ community, we develop programming for LGBTQ+ awareness, visibility and supportive programming to support a welcoming and inclusive environment that enhance the quality of life for our LGBTQ+ communities.

Challenge/Opportunity

Critical to EPFL’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts is to ensure we provide both a safe space and a voice for LGBTQ+ employees and customers, as well as relative programming and services that respect and support the individuality of LGBTQ+ employees, customers and communities.

Key Elements of Innovation

In support of EPFL’s commitment to be inclusive of all forms of diversity, including sexual orientation and gender identity, this newly developed tri-partnership between the city’s Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs, EPFL and members of the LGBTQ community has given the library an opportunity to develop a unique range of programs to serve the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Programs include Drag Queen Story Hour, Bi-Monthly Meetings (for the Bisexual community), LGBTQ history and workforce development.

Achieved Outcomes

Success will be measured by the participant number and trending levels of participation. Evaluation tools for programming are being developed in FY2021.
