Anythink Coffee House with CUP

Anythink

Workforce and Economic Development | 2023

Innovation Synopsis

The Anythink Coffee House is a business partnership between Anythink and Community Uplift Partnership (CUP), a local non-profit that equips young adults with tools to make better decisions that impact their future and their families. Located inside Anythink Wright Farms, the Anythink Coffee House opened to the public on Monday, September 12, 2022.

Challenge/Opportunity

Anythink has a café in its Wright Farms branch and internal staff have managed it for many years. After its manager retired, there was an opportunity to collaborate with CUP to not only help with the library’s staffing capacity, but to support the work of an established community partner whose values align with Anythink’s. The two organizations joined forces, and the Anythink Coffee House was born.

Key Elements of Innovation

CUP is Anythink’s key partner in the Coffee House. CUP strengthens young adults in the community to conquer the barriers and challenges that limit them from job training and connects them with employment opportunities that provide sustainable wages. The Anythink Coffee House staff provides elevated service to library customers, and the café is an example of a strong strategic partnership and mechanism for building support within our community.

Achieved Outcomes

Anythink’s new partnership with CUP is mutually beneficial and provides an added benefit to the community.

  • 200+ customers attended the Coffee House’s grand opening
  • CUP staff develop creative drinks related to library happenings and collaborate with broader marketing and communications; Anythink is building relationships with the young people they employ
  • New library card recipients now get a free drink at the café
  • Customers are connecting with each other and staff over coffee
