Innovation Synopsis

A WGBH News satellite bureau and studio occupies the new enterprise retail space established in conjunction with the renovation of the Boston Public Library’s Central Library. WGBH broadcasts a variety of programming, drawing an audience for a popular local talk radio broadcast. WGBH and the BPL are collaborating on programming.

This unique collaboration is believed to be one of the first in the world between a library and in-house news entity.


Achieved Outcomes

The addition of the WGBH News satellite bureau and studio is innovative, and an unexpected experience for our first-time users. The unique collaboration reinforces the creativity of the BPL brand, and creates a modern, 21st century library experience for visitors, combining news, coffee and library resources.
