Innovation Synopsis

The" Welcome Center" is the place at the Central Library to ask a staff member for directions, referrals or information about upcoming programs and where visitors can virtually engage with the library through a 41-screen digital interface. Screens promote programs taking place at the Central Library to encourage visitor participation.

Challenge/Opportunity

The "Welcome Center" was installed at the entrance of the Central Library, as part of its recent renovation, to provide a warm, personal welcome to our visitors and to give them the opportunity to engage interactively with our collections through technology.


Key Elements of Innovation

The "Welcome Center" provides a unique discovery opportunity that is presented immediately when a patron arrives on site, featuring a staff member, digital interactives and collateral materials to peruse.


Achieved Outcomes

The "Welcome Center" equips visitors and patrons with information about the Central Library immediately, and they can they choose their own experience based on their initial interaction.
