People come to the library today – either the virtual or physical library - for many different reasons. To ensure that people’s needs are being met, libraries must continually gauge customer satisfaction.
This category recognizes innovations in assessing user/audience satisfaction; strengthening customer service standards, tools and techniques; using digital technologies to expand services for library users; tracking attendance/participation in programs; and, always, preserving intellectual freedom and privacy.

On Feb 29th 2012, the Columbus Metropolitan Library took a giant leap in moving their “My Library” strategy forward by launching a new website that allows customers to create and widgetize their own personalized homepage of their favorite electronic resources, reading genres, local news feeds, and more.

Music Advice for Individuals and for the Masses
Librarians at the Jacksonville Public Library have developed a personalized online Music Advisory service to help patrons discover new music to fit their tastes. They have paired this service with a weekly radio show, “Lost in the Stacks,” that highlights an eclectic variety of music available at the library.
