Public Libraries as Partners in Youth Development: Lessons and Voices from the Field (PDF file/1.7mb. Please be patient if the document takes a moment to load.)
This publication, Public Libraries as Partners in Youth Development: Lessons and Voices from the Field, produced in a partnership between Karen Pittman of the Forum for Youth Investment and ULC, is the story of the PLPYD experiment.
As youth development experts, Karen Pittman and co-author Nicole Yohalem are uniquely able to contextualize this exciting and difficult work in the larger community of general social services, jobs and after-school programs. Using information gathered from their research and experience as well as PLPYD participant interviews and journal articles, Pittman and Yohalem weave together the PLPYD story. Their research also includes interviews with youth touched by the initiative.
This publication highlights sections of a project whose community impact we may never fully appreciate. We've thoroughly enjoyed our work with these libraries and our partners, and hope you enjoy the story.
