Library & Particpant Outcomes
- Each library will have its narrative: who they are, where they come from, how they’re evolving, why their community needs them, how they get better and better at meeting their community’s needs – with an emphasis on innovation, engagement, redefinition and relationships. The stories that participants create will emphasize a sense of the library’s place in the larger narratives of its community and our shared civil society.
- Throughout the five-session series, libraries will craft stories that flesh out their unique narratives. Where gaps exist, their narratives will show them the kinds of stories they need to collect and record.
- Participating library staff will expand their ability to think and communicate in story and narrative.
- Parallel to working on the “big narrative,” each library will – with input and feedback from Terrence and their peers – commit to next steps in developing or enhancing a story culture within their library.

Terrence McNally
Terrence McNally, a few years out of Harvard, left Boston and teaching for Los Angeles and the entertainment industry. He wanted to reach larger audiences. After twenty years as an actor, director, songwriter, record producer and screenwriter (Earth Girls Are Easy - starring Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum and Jim Carrey), he realized he wasn’t fulfilling his vision. Now it all comes together in his media and consulting work, as he seeks, spreads and encourages stories of a world that just might work. Visit www.aworldthatjustmightwork.com to find out more.
Terrence hosts a weekly radio show in Los Angeles and New York, where he engages the most visionary thinkers, writers and doers to make sense of the current moment and shed light on the path ahead. Recent guests include Michael Lewis, Father Greg Boyle, Atul Gawande, Temple Grandin, Nicholas Kristof, Malalai Joya, Cornel West, Craig Venter and Robert Wright.
