Karen Glover Elected Chair of ULC Executive Board

ULC Announces 2014-2015 Executive Board Chair and New Board Members
Chicago, IL, June 25, 2014 - The Urban Libraries Council (ULC) has elected Karen (Kari) Glover, Board member and Immediate Past President of the King County (WA) Library System Foundation, to Chair the ULC Executive Board (2014-2015). As Chair, Glover will lead a board of 16 members which includes library directors, trustees, business and civic leaders.
Glover practiced law for over 30 years as a corporate and regulatory lawyer. She was Firm Managing Partner of Preston Gates & Ellis, LLP, then a Seattle based firm of 430 lawyers with 11 offices in Washington, DC, the West Coast and Greater China, and Global Integration Partner of K&L Gates, one of the largest law firms in the world. Ms. Glover has long experience in civic and business leadership.
In addition to her volunteer leadership with libraries, Glover serves as Board Chair of VillageReach, an NGO involved in global health logistics, and on the Boards of United Way Worldwide, REI, and Whitman College. "I know that much work is ahead of us. But with a strong, smart membership like we have within the Urban Libraries Council - there isn't anything that we can't do together." said Glover. "I am excited by the opportunities ahead - and I look forward to my term."
The ULC membership also elected three new board members: Jill Bourne, Director of Libraries for the City of San Jose, Dr. Rhea Lawson, Executive Director of the Houston Public Library and Mary Blankenship Pointer, Senior Vice President of Republic Bank and Trust, Oklahoma City and Chair of the Pioneer Library System (OK) Board of Trustees.
