Corporate Membership in ULC includes full membership in the organization, with participation in the annual Leadership Symposium, research projects, literature and media distribution, committees and representation by ULC when appropriate. |
Dues level $7,500 per year through 2008.
For corporate members, ULC offers these opportunities:
-
To understand how library directors and trustees think about their libraries' futures.
-
To participate in and influence urban library strategies for meeting threats and taking advantage of opportunities.
-
To enjoy the “soft benefit” of good public relations, stemming from meetings and conversations where one's views about urban library strategies are valued and respected.
Basic Commitment. The commitment of all members of ULC is to furthering the well being of the library community as a whole, not to the benefit of their particular institutions.
Participation. While ULC is composed of organizational members only, for it to be of value as a place for co-creation of the future of the urban public library, participation from each organization must be by persons at a high level who have strategy responsibility. Those who come together should recognize in one another a thoughtful peer, committed to addressing major issues.
For libraries, this means directors and trustees only, unless there is a compelling reason to include others from the city/county or from the library's staff.
For corporate members, this means the corporate officer/s with the greatest responsibility for national or international strategy. Since corporations differ greatly in structure, the exact position titles are difficult to specify, but might include Chief Executive Officer, VP for Planning, or General Manager. |
