During the past year the Bridgeport Public Library has made the updating and modernization of its website a high priority.

Challenge/Opportunity

How can we best enhance the visibility of the Bridgeport Public Library's programs and resources and in doing so increase library usage?


Key Elements of Innovation

The library has marketed these website improvements thru media releases to traditional media outlets and e-media as well as using the library's weekly e-Newsletter to direct readers to our website.


Achieved Outcomes

Overall, average daily visits to the BPL website have more than doubled in the last year. Further, database usage and program attendance have also show a marked usage. As a culmination of these efforts, the Bridgeport Public Library website has been named the winner of the Connecticut Library Association Publicity Committee’s 2012 Award for the best website in a CT library with a budget over $750,000.
