Connected Learning: An Agenda for Research & Design

February 4th, 2013

Connected_LearningA new study, released by the Connected Learning Research Network and funded by the MacArthur Foundation, advocates for a new, community-based approach to advancing educational equity by creating multiple paths to learning, enrichment and opportunity.

"Connected learning is realized when a young person is able to pursue a personal interest or passion  with the support of friends and caring adults, and is in turn able to link this learning and interest to academic achievement, career success or civic engagement." The framework for connected learning is at the heart of the Learning Labs Initiative and is relevant to many different enrichment program models for children and youth.
