2014 National Medal for Museums & Libraries!
The Institute for Museum and Library Services has announced winners of the 2014 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community. In its 20th anniversary year, the medals program celebrates excellent institutions that have made a significant impact on individuals, families and communities across the nation. The award will be presented by First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House on May 8.
Among the 10 museums and libraries honored are three members of the ULC community. Congratulations to:
- Chicago Public Library, IL
- Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, NV
- Mid-Continent Public Library, KS
These outstanding libraries are recognized for their many achievements including providing digital access; outstanding early literacy and after-school and digital youth media programs; as well as workforce development and business incubation services that contribute to economic growth and vitality of their communities.
